We turned children all over New Zealand into shopkeepers. How? By making miniatures of popular branded products that were so detailed they looked like they had simply been shrunk to size.
Think: Wattie’s Baked Beanz, Weet-Bix Bites, Huggers Ultra Dry Nappies, bananas, apples… And we increased the playability by creating additional merchandise: a miniature trolley, cash register, scales and a checkout counter.
The campaign captured the imagination of both children and adults – and even extended beyond the supermarket. Mobil Petrol collaborated with New World during the promotion; a free bonus ‘mini’ was given when customers spent NDZ 40 or more on fuel at one of their petrol stations.
